The Magic Circle Convention
In July 2026, I had the huge honour of being asked to perform in "The Magic Circle Convention 2026'. In the magic world, this is a huge deal. Held at their prestigious headquarters in London, the convention brings in talent from all over the world to perform, lecture and entertain a theatre packed of magicians. I was performing in the Gala show - alongside some incredible names. It was a real joy to perform, especially to hundreds of magicians! It was also an incredible privilege to be asked to perform at this year's convention, as it was hosted in memory of legendary British Magician `Wayne Dobson. Hosted on Wayne's birthday (the 5th of July) the convention celebrated Wayne's life, and it was amazing to be a part of it.
My fellow performers had flown in from all across the globe to be here - Paul Dabek, resident magician at the Cirque De Soleil show 'Big Apple' had flown in from Las Vegas especially in memory of Wayne, who had mentored him throughout his life. Michael Jordan, magician and juggling extraordinaire arrived from Blackpool after many hours on the train. Sonia Benito hailed from Spain, and even gave a lecture at the Convention too. And I arrived from Swindon. Talk about exotic. But the real draw to the convention was it's host: Showbuisness legend Brian Conley, of "It's a Puppet!" and "Pratt Pack" fame. He compered the gala performance, with a couple of appearances from his daughter Lucy, as well as appearing on a panel discussing Wayne's life and giving a 'comedy masterclass' with fellow comedy icon Joe Pasquale. The gala show performers also performed in 'Brian Conley's Big Night of Magic' the day before, which raised money for the MS society in memory of Wayne.
Throughout the two days, everyone was incredibly wonderful, kind and supportive. We all had completely different acts, which offered variety to the show and allowed us to be astonished by each other's performances. From dressing room stories with Brian and Paul, to backstage chats with Michael and Sonia, to running around the convention with Lucy, it was an incredible experience, and to be doing it in honour of an icon of British Magic was just extraordinary.
